ARCH is a 4 year+ research project, being conducted from October 2017 to June 2022. Our study will be split across 4 Work Packages, each scheduled to run for approximately 12 months as follows:

  • Year 1 - Work Package 1 - Epidemiology: Measuring patterns of antibiotic use.
  • Year 2 - Work Package 2 - Sociology and Social Anthropology: Understanding how and why antibiotic prescribing happens in different care homes.
  • Year 3 - Work Package 3 - Health Psychology: Identifying staff behaviours that could be changed to reduce antibiotic prescribing.
  • Year 4 - Work Package 4 - Intervention Development and Testing: Creating and testing new approaches to changing antibiotic prescribing.

We will publicise study progress, findings and events via the ARCH Website and Twitter account. Please visit our News & Events page to join one of two Dissemination meetings taking place in June 2022.
